Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash Statistics

The majority of drivers in California are unaware that single-vehicle collisions are among the deadliest on the road.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 62% of California’s fatal car accidents are the result of a single vehicle. Drivers in California must be aware of numerous contributing factors due to the high number of single-vehicle accidents.

There are a variety of reasons why a single vehicle can collide. If you drive recklessly on a slick road while speeding or making sharp turns, you could end up with a runaway vehicle. Trucks have thrown branches and other debris all over the road.

It is more likely that your comprehensive insurance policy will pay out less than your collision insurance policy in a single-car accident caused by something other than negligence on your or another driver’s part.
