According to local authorities, one female pedestrian was killed in a fatal DUI accident in Southwest Bakersfield on Tuesday, June 21, 2022.
The crash occurred just before 11:00 p.m. in the 1300 block of Berkshire Road.
The Bakersfield Police were called to the scene when the woman was struck by a car. The person drove off after hitting the woman.
Alexis L. eventually returned to the scene in the vehicle used in the hit-and-run.
Police claim that after an investigation, they discovered Leon was under the influence, but speed also appears to have played a role in the fatal collision.
Leon is facing several charges, including gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
He is expected to appear in court on Friday at 3:00 p.m.
