Fatal Hit-and-Run Accident Statistics

One of the most terrifying things that can happen to a person is being involved in an accident as a result of the negligence of another driver. Things will only worsen if the other driver refuses to accept responsibility for the collision.

It’s unfortunate, but hit-and-runs occur far too often. In 2016, 2,049 people were killed in hit-and-run incidents in the United States. Recent research shows that the United States experiences more than 680,000 hit-and-runs each year. One pedestrian is killed by a car every week in the United States.

In the event of an accident caused by a negligent driver, pedestrians may not be able to respond immediately.

To a large extent, the reasons why someone leaves the scene of an accident are subjective. Intoxicated or inexperienced drivers are more likely to get into an accident on the road. Instead of taking responsibility for their actions, drunk drivers will flee the scene of an accident.
