According to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office, three San Fernando Valley men in their early 20s were killed and six others injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Vanowen Street Sunday, July 3, 2022.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department and the Los Angeles Police Department, the deadly high-speed crash occurred at about 9:00 p.m. in the 19700 block of Vanowen Street.
It took the lives of Steve O. Jr., 22, of Reseda, Celestino F., 22, of Burbank, and Isaiah S., 23, of Northridge, the Los Angeles County coroner’s office reported. All three men died at the scene.
The LAFD reported that the remaining six patients all sustained potentially serious injuries due to the mechanism of injury, but all were stable upon transport.
According to LAPD Capt. Andrew Neiman, the Ford Explorer with the three men inside was traveling at 65 to 70 mph in a 35 mph zone when it collided. The SUV crashed into a truck before slamming into an Audi.
Although the cause of the collision was not immediately known, neighbors claimed that drivers had long-standing issues with the street.
There were no additional crash-related details available. Investigations into the collision are still ongoing.
