According to the Santa Maria police, the crash occurred around 6:40 p.m. between Battles Road and Miller Street.
Police say the driver who struck the 14-year-old stayed at the scene and was not detained, despite the fact that the report has not yet been finished.
The child was transported by air to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
