[07-14-2022] Los Angeles County, CA - 37-Year-Old Man Killed in Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash Near 105 FreewayA 37-year-old man, Alexis C., was killed in a fatal multi-vehicle crash following a high-speed chase when the suspects close to the 105 Freeway ramp in South Los Angeles on Thursday, July 14, 2022.

The collision occurred just after 3:00 p.m. in South Los Angeles near the 105 on South Central Avenue.

Two teenage boys reportedly rammed into several cars during the chase.

Four wrecked vehicles were visible at the scene, and at least two individuals, identified as chase suspects, were seriously injured and handcuffed to gurneys before being taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Authorities estimate their ages to be 14 and 15.

The suspects were operating an Oregon-registered Kia Sportage. Last week, the car was reported stolen from Compton.

The suspects, described as the driver and one passenger, are thought to have been pursued by Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies for reckless driving and possible DUI.

The Kia struck a truck and a red sedan, driven by Covarrubias, after leaving the westbound 105.

Covarrubias was pronounced dead at the scene. The collision also involved two other vehicles.
