[07-17-2022] San Diego County, CA - Four People Injured After Truck Crashes into House in North County NeighborhoodAccording to California Highway Patrol, a driver, passenger, and two kids inside a house were injured after a car struck a house in a North County neighborhood on Sunday, July 17, 2022.

According to a news release from CHP Officer Hunter Gerber, officers responded to the collision that occurred around 2:40 a.m. in the 1300 block of Winter Haven Road in Fallbrook.

Officers discovered a grey Toyota Tacoma there that Fallbrook resident Luis T., 19, was operating when he veered off Winter Haven and struck a home while driving eastbound.

Although the exact cause of the driver’s rash decision to leave the road is unknown, alcohol and/or drugs were thought to have played a role, according to Gerber.

Thomas and his 20-year-old passenger were both transported with severe injuries that could have been fatal to Palomar Medical Center. The children, ages 5 and 9, both sustained minor injuries and were taken to Rady Children’s Hospital for care. The agency only publicly identified Thomas.

According to Gerber, Thomas was later detained in connection with the crash on felony charges, including felony DUI.

The crash remains under investigation.
