According to authorities, a bus driver and two passengers were taken to the hospital following a hit-and-run collision involving a Metro bus in Huntington Park early Monday, August 1, 2022.
The crash occurred at around 1:15 a.m. on Pacific Boulevard and Clarendon Avenue.
According to Huntington Park Department Police Officer Jesus Verdiell, a bus was traveling north on Pacific Boulevard when a car allegedly ran a red light while traveling east on Clarendon Avenue.
According to Rick Jager, a Metro spokesperson, the bus and the car were involved in a head-on collision.
According to preliminary investigation results, the bus was likely T-boned, which caused it to crash into a light pole, Verdiell said.
Verdiell claimed that the hit-and-run driver was operating a silver 2000 Scion tC, and that they reportedly fled the scene on foot.
According to Jager, Metro will keep collaborating with regional law enforcement to identify the accident’s precise cause.
According to Jager, the bus driver suffered injuries to his leg.
According to video taken at the scene, the driver was trapped in the debris and had to be cut free by firefighters.
The bus also had two injured passengers. Response teams are seen in an on-scene video removing all three victims from the bus and placing them on stretchers. According to Verdiell, they were transported to the hospital by ambulance.
According to local news reports, all three victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Police are looking for the evading driver while they investigate this crash.
