Car Crash Statistics

Every year in California, an alarming number of people are killed in single-vehicle accidents.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that 62% of all California car accident fatalities result from single-vehicle collisions. There are several things to keep in mind when driving in California that could lead to an accident.

A variety of factors can cause a single-vehicle accident. Speed and sharp turns on a slick road increase the risk of an off-road accident or a runaway vehicle. Road debris, such as a large branch or a piece that fell from a truck’s cab, could be found on the road surface.

Even if the single-car accident is caused by something other than your or another driver’s negligence, your insurance policy’s comprehensive coverage plan will likely limit your recovery.

Even if an accident results in the death of another person, reckless driving is still a crime, even if the victim is unable to return to work or school. Victims of car accidents who have died as a result of another driver’s negligence may sue the insurer of that driver’s insurer for wrongful death.

Reliving one’s past sorrows and losses in front of a large audience is a painful experience for witnesses in deposition or trial proceedings. People’s mental health may suffer if their legal issues aren’t resolved.

Immediate action is necessary to hold a driver responsible for a car accident. Accountability is critical when a high death toll results from negligence. Families who have lost a loved one can benefit from wrongful death lawsuits, despite the fact that they can be draining. Motorists in California will feel the full impact of this decision.
