[07-06-2022] Los Angeles County, CA – Two People Injured After Car Crashes into Canyon in Santa Clarita

Two people were injured after their car crashed about 200 feet down a steep canyon cliffside in Santa Clarita on Wednesday, July 6, 2022.

According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, the crash occurred around 11:06 p.m. on Sand Canyon in Santa Clarita.

According to David Young, Firefighter Specialist with the LACoFD, local authorities received reports of one vehicle that had overturned.

The vehicle was moving eastbound on Sand Canyon toward Placerita Canyon in the city of Santa Clarita when it overturned.

Numerous fire department units, Urban Search and Rescue, and Copter 19 all responded, and the latter transported one non-ambulatory patient to a hospital.

A lowering system was used to rescue the other patient, who had minor injuries to his right arm.

Young said the car appeared to be a compact passenger sedan, but at the time of the incident, he was unable to determine the make or model.

The crash remains under investigation.
