[08-19-2022] Los Angeles County, CA- 2 People Killed after Hit-and-Run Crash in Florence

According to authorities, two people were killed when a vehicle fled from a traffic stop in Los Angeles’ Florence neighborhood on Friday morning, August 19, 2022.

According to a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson, around 4:15 a.m. on Friday, police were conducting a traffic stop for a speeding vehicle when the driver decided to flee the scene,

The fleeing driver ran a red light and collided with multiple vehicles, including a large rig, a short time later at West Manchester Boulevard and South Broadway intersection.

According to the spokesperson, two people, identified only as a man and a woman, were killed when the fleeing suspects struck their vehicle as they drove through the intersection.

Sky5 aerial video showed one vehicle partially obscured by a police canopy at the scene. A large rig and two other damaged cars could also be seen.

According to the spokesperson, three male suspects inside the fleeing vehicle fled the crash site.

They were later apprehended and taken into custody.

Another person was hurt in the accident but was not taken to the hospital.

During the investigation, the intersection was closed.
