[10-11-2021] Santa Barbara County, CA – Child Injured After a Bicycle Accident in Santa Maria

A 7-year-old child was hurt after a bicycle accident in Santa Maria on Monday morning, October 11.

The accident happened in the area of South Pine and West Jones Streets in Santa Maria at around 7:30 a.m. The young girl was riding her bicycle northbound when an eastbound vehicle suddenly struck her at the intersection.

The young girl was immediately taken to Marian Regional Medical Center for treatment. She was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Meanwhile, the driver that struck the little girl was uninjured in the mishap and remained at the scene and willingly cooperated with authorities.

Drugs and alcohol were not considered as factors in the accident. The Santa Maria Police Traffic Bureau is currently investigating the cause of the accident.
