Fatal Motorcycle Accident Statistics

In 2020, motorcyclists were to blame for 14% of all road deaths, 18% of all occupant deaths, and 4% of all occupant injuries, according to the National Safety Council. Even though only 3% of these vehicles made up 0.6% of all vehicle miles, they did make up a big part of that number. If the victims had been wearing helmets, maybe some of the terrible deaths could have been prevented.

In 2020, for every 100 million km driven, 2,333 more lives were lost than in 2019. During this time, both the total number of deaths and the rate of deaths went up by about 20%. There have been 5,579 deaths for every 100,000 tourists (a rate of 31.64).

As of this writing, more than 785,424 motorcycles are on the roads in California. More than their fair share of traffic deaths in the state are caused by motorcyclists. Experts say that only about 6% of these deaths can be blamed on drivers who were not paying attention.
