Fatal Hit-And-Run Crash Statistics
A recent study found that there has been a sharp increase in hit-and-run accidents recently. 24% of pedestrian deaths in hit-and-run incidents in 2020 were fatal.
According to recent surveys, California has the most pedestrian fatalities compared to other states. In 2012, there were 893 pedestrian fatalities and over 14,000 injuries in California.
When two vehicles collide, and one flees without stopping to help the injured party, the collision is known as a hit-and-run. In addition to the pain and suffering brought on by injury accidents, hit-and-run incidents may have unfavorable outcomes if victims do not receive prompt medical care.
The leading causes of pedestrian fatalities and injuries are sudden braking or failing to yield to pedestrians.
To reduce their risk of harm, pedestrians should use sidewalks whenever possible, abstain from drugs and alcohol, and exercise caution when crossing streets or operating a vehicle.
After An Accident, How Do I File a Police Report?
Make sure the police show up at the collision site and file a report. If you are questioned at the accident scene, be honest about what you witnessed and felt. Use caution when speaking and refrain from assuming things about situations you do not fully understand. Immediately after an accident, victims may overly apologize even if they were not at fault due to shock and anxiety.
Insurance companies may use this deed of kindness as proof that you admitted guilt to have your claim denied.
