What To Do After Being Injured In A Pedestrian Accident
Following a pedestrian collision, do your best to maintain your composure. To safeguard your health and rights to compensation, do the following actions, provided you’re still able to do so:
- Make a 911 call and look for any injuries. Go to a secure area, but do not leave the accident scene. Ask for assistance and remain motionless if movement will make your injuries worse. Allow the paramedics to treat you.
- If possible, make a note of the driver’s and any witnesses’ contact information. Take photos and videos of your injuries, the car that was involved, and the collision site if you are able.
- Discuss the incident with the authorities, but refrain from assuming anything, apologizing, or accepting responsibility.
- Seek immediate medical attention at a hospital and adhere closely to your physician’s recommendations.
- Don’t share anything on social media. The goal of insurance adjusters is to find any way to undermine your claim and lower the amount they must pay you.
