Fatal Reckless Accident Statistics
Accidents involving hundreds of vehicles and hundreds of lives lost each year in the United States can be directly linked to drivers’ lack of concern for others on the road. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, “reckless driving” is defined as operating a motor vehicle while showing “a wanton disregard” for the safety of other drivers, passengers, and pedestrians.
The number of fatal crashes that may be attributable to careless driving is difficult to calculate with any degree of precision. A 2009 AAA survey found that between the years of 2003 and 2007, reckless driving contributed to 56% of accidents.
According to the Fatal Accident Reporting System maintained by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, speeding is one of the leading causes of death on American roadways.
What to Do After a Car Accident
It is crucial to call 911 promptly after a car accident. Stick to the facts as you know how they happened rather than making any assumptions when being questioned. Even though they are not at fault, some accident victims may sincerely apologize while still in shock. Doing this will give the insurance company more grounds to reject your claim.
Contact the police where the incident occurred for a copy of the police report. Please fill out our online form if you would like us to contact them on your behalf. So that we can process your claim, we need you to provide the following information. We do not charge for the initial consultation when discussing a potential claim.
