According to officials, an electrical fire at California Polytechnic State University’s dormitory injured one student and displaced about 60 people on Thursday, February 10, 2022.
The fire broke out shortly after 3:00 a.m. in a second-floor room at Yosemite Hall Tower 6 on the campus in San Luis Obispo, according to University President Jeffrey Armstrong.
He claims that while one student sustained minor injuries, the rest of the students were able to safely evacuate the building.
The fire was mostly contained to the room where it started.
The university provided breakfast to all Yosemite students and notified their professors that they might be unable to attend class.
The accident remains under investigation.
