A driver was fatally struck and another injured after a two-vehicle crash in San Marcos on Thursday morning, February 23, 2023.
Reports indicated the collision occurred around 7:00 a.m. on South Rancho Santa Fe Road near La Colusa Drive.
According to authorities, a northbound Jeep veered into the southbound lanes of the street, colliding with a 2008 Lincoln MKZ, overturning, and catching fire.
Emergency crews were called to free both motorists from their damaged vehicles.
Paramedics transported them to a hospital, where the Lincoln driver died. Meanwhile, the other patient was treated for minor injuries.
The crash’s cause was being investigated.
It is not believed that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision at this time.
