Plane Crash Statistics
Even though flying is faster and safer than driving or taking the train, plane mishaps are regular and can kill or severely harm persons on board. There are a variety of reasons why planes crash. Poor repair and maintenance, as well as pilot error, are examples of such issues.
In 2018, there were 1,347 civilian aviation accidents in the United States. In 2019, there were 1,302 accidents. Last year, approximately 395 fewer people died in civil aviation than this year.
Only eight people died in 2019. Every one of the 452 people who died in 2019 died on a boat. A plane crash claimed the lives of four people.
Plane crashes are usually caused by pilot error, corporate negligence, violations of Federal Aviation Administration standards, and mechanical issues, but other factors can also cause them.
