Drivers who leave the scene of a collision between two vehicles without calling for help, including those who flee on foot, are known as “hit-and-run” drivers. Accidents involving pedestrians are frequently caused by sudden braking or failing to yield to pedestrians.
It is suggested that pedestrians use sidewalks whenever possible, refrain from using drugs and alcohol, and exercise caution when crossing parking lots or driveways in order to prevent collisions.
What To Do Following an Accident
The first thing you should do after an accident is to pull over to a safe area. Those at fault in an accident who attempt to flee the scene face severe consequences. If an accident causes death or serious injury, you should report it regardless of your ability to contact the authorities. Anyone riding with a drunk driver should call the police immediately.
Assuming no one was hurt, you could stop on the side of the road. The police may impound abandoned vehicles.
