[04-21-2022] Sacramento County, CA – One Person Seriously Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash Involving Pickup Truck on Elk Grove Florin Road

California Highway Patrol officials said a bicyclist was seriously injured after being struck by a pickup truck in a hit-and-run in Sacramento County’s Vineyard area Thursday night, April 21, 2022.

According to the CHP South Sacramento office, the crash occurred before 11:00 p.m. on Elk Grove Florin Road near Bridalsmith Drive.

Two cyclists were riding in the northbound bike lane when one of them was struck by a four-door pickup truck also heading north.

CHP officials believe a white work truck, described as a Ford pickup truck with a model year between 2008 and 2016, struck one of the bicyclists and then fled the scene after a preliminary investigation.

According to the CHP, the cyclist who was struck was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The other cyclist remained on the scene and assisted CHP officers.

According to the CHP, the suspect vehicle’s passenger-side mirror is missing.
