[04-23-2023] Bicyclist Dead After Crashing Into a Parked SUV in MurrietaA 73-year-old bicyclist died following his collision with a parked SUV in Murrieta City on Sunday night, April 23, 2023.

Murrieta Police Department reported that on Whitewood Road, north of Poinsettia Street, Murrieta, around 7:50 p.m., the biker suffered fatal injuries after crashing into a Chevrolet SUV parked at the curbside.

The driver is a 37-year-old woman who stopped to check on a small child in the rear seat. It was unknown whether the SUV had brake or hazard lights on.

The bicyclist was identified on Tuesday as Jose B., who had died at the scene in less than 10 minutes despite the efforts of Murrieta Fire & Rescue. The woman and the child were not injured.

The cause of the collision and whether or not drugs or alcohol were a factor is still unknown.

The investigation is still ongoing.
