[04-24-2023] Female Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Vehicle in HesperiaA female pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Hesperia late Monday night, April 24, 2023.

According to the San Bernardino County Fire Department, the fatal crash occurred around 11:15 p.m. on Bear Valley Road and Second Avenue.

Based on the authorities’ preliminary investigation, a 52-year-old Hesperia man was driving an eastbound Lexus I250 when he struck the pedestrian as she crossed Bear Valley Road. Upon arrival, authorities declared the adult female in the roadway dead.

The driver remained on the scene and cooperated with investigators, and at this time, drugs or alcohol did not play a role in this crash.

Authorities also added that the pedestrian lying on the roadway caused a secondary crash when a vehicle avoided the pedestrian and was rear-ended. Following the collision, the rear-ended vehicle rolled over.

The second crash resulted in no injuries, and the victim’s identity has not yet been released, pending notification of his family.
