[04-28-2023] San Diego County, CA – Elderly Driver Killed, Passenger Severely Injured After Two-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 805

A 75-year-old driver lost his life, and his passenger suffered serious injuries in a tragic two-vehicle crash in San Diego on Friday morning, April 28, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred after 9 a.m. on Interstate 805.

As per the report, the Nissan pickup truck overturned and hit a light pole, but it is uncertain if it crashed into a commercial vehicle towing a mini excavator in the next lane.

The people inside the Nissan were not wearing seatbelts and were thrown out of the truck. The driver was declared dead on the spot, while the passenger sustained severe injuries and was transported to Scripps Mercy Hospital.

The commercial vehicle was reported missing after the accident, and CHP is seeking witnesses to the crash.
