[05-07-2023] San Diego County, CA – Male Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Vehicle in Escondido

A 32-year-old male pedestrian was killed after getting hit by a vehicle in Escondido late Sunday night, May 07, 2023.

According to the Escondido Police Department, the SUV struck the pedestrian just before 10:00 p.m. on West Valley Parkway at Ninth Avenue.

The man was struck by the 57-year-old driver of the 2010 Mazda CX9 while he was crossing Escondido Street. Initial investigation revealed that the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing and crossed the street mid-block.

After the officers arrived, they started performing life-saving measures on the man. He was transported to the hospital and was later pronounced dead.

Lt. Suzanne Baeder claimed that there was no indication that the Mazda driver was intoxicated, and the collision didn’t seem to have been caused by speeding or reckless driving.
