[05-20-2022] Contra Costa County, CA - Horse Rider Injured in Suspected DUI Crash in KnightsenA suspected drunk driver killed a horse and injured a rider in Contra Costa County on Friday night, May 20, 2022.

The crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. in Knightsen.

According to news reports, the driver allegedly struck the horse, killing it and injuring the rider. A helicopter was used to transport the rider to the hospital.

According to further news reports, the car was severely damaged, but the driver was unharmed.

The California Highway Patrol officers noticed signs of intoxication from the driver.

He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The driver’s identity has not been disclosed.
