[05-24-2022] San Diego County, CA – Mother and Child Injured After a Suspected DUI Crash in Imperial Beach

A mother and a child were injured after getting hit by a suspected DUI driver in Imperial Beach on Tuesday evening, May 24, 2022.

The accident transpired at approximately 8:15 p.m. in the area of 11th Street and Fern Avenue in Imperial Beach.

A mother and her child were riding bicycles in the area when they were suddenly struck by a passing Chevrolet Silverado.

The mother and her child were rushed to an area hospital for treatment. The mother was seriously injured, while the child sustained minor injuries.

Meanwhile, authorities determined that the Chevrolet driver was under the influence at the time of the accident. He was arrested for DUI-related charges. He was booked into the San Diego Central Jail.

An active investigation of the case is currently underway.
