[05-26-2023] Los Angeles County, CA – Multiple Injuries Following Multi-Vehicle Hit-and-Run Collision in West Whittier

Four people were injured following a multi-vehicle collision in West Whittier, Los Angeles County, on Friday evening, May 26, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on Interstate 605 and Slauson Avenue at around 11:45 p.m.

Deputies of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department were stopping a Dodge Charger when it failed to yield and sped away from the authorities.

LASD officers gave chase but transferred the task to the CHP when the suspects reached the freeway, where they collided with at least three vehicles, one Honda CRV, a hatchback sedan, a small sedan, and a gasoline tanker trailer. The occupants of the Dodge Charger fled on foot following the collision.

Four victims were injured, including one male with head injuries, one with arm pain, and two others with unknown conditions.

LASD officers have taken custody of the negligent street racers.
