Multiple people were injured after a multi-vehicle hit-and-run collision in South Berkeley late Monday evening, May 29, 2023.
According to the Berkeley Police Department, the collision happened around 11:40 p.m. between Sacramento Street and Alcatraz Avenue.
A Volkswagen Jetta, a Mercedes, and a Chevrolet were reportedly involved. The Jetta was speeding and struck a car heading eastbound, hitting another vehicle waiting at the stoplight.
The male driver and passenger of the Jetta fled the scene and left the other victims, who sustained injuries of unknown extent but were not transported to a hospital.
The authorities have located the Jetta owner in South Berkeley, but he was not home at the time. Investigations and the search for the suspects are still underway.
