One person was sent to the hospital after a crash on the Bay Bridge on Tuesday, May 31, 2022.
The collision occurred around 8:30 a.m. on the bridge’s lower (eastbound) deck, near the Treasure Island offramp.
Several news outlets reported that seven to eight vehicles were involved in the crash, but Officer Mark Andrews of the California Highway Patrol San Francisco Division said that only three cars were involved.
He explained that the rest of the cars that came to a halt were witnesses or people who had pulled over to help.
All lanes were reopened as of around 10:00 a.m., but there were expected to be some delays.
According to Officer Andrews, two of the three vehicles, ended up sitting horizontally across multiple lanes, blocking them.
The lanes were blocked for a long time because the cars were completely disabled and had to be towed out.
According to the CHP, the crash is still under investigation, but it appears that a driver making an unsafe turning movement may have caused or contributed to the crash.
No one was seriously hurt in the crash, but one person was taken to the hospital after complaining of pain.
Multi-Vehicle Crash Statistics
The number of traffic accidents rises as the state’s economy grows. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, approximately 3,304 people were killed in car accidents in 2010.
Cars can be deadly in California, especially if you’re not familiar with the roads. The drivers could have done more to avoid these accidents. Human error is to blame for nearly all accidents, with 94% of them.
A car accident injury can be extremely painful or even fatal, depending on the severity of the accident. It’s easy for drivers to lose sight of the dangers they pose because car accidents happen so frequently.
A multi-vehicle collision occurs when three or more vehicles come into contact with each other. When two vehicles collide head-on, a pileup can result in as many as six vehicles being involved.
More than 13,000 people were killed in multi-vehicle collisions in 2010 according to a new NHTSA study.
San Francisco County Car Accident Lawyers
A two-car collision is easier to prosecute because there are only two people involved. Accidents involving multiple vehicles are more difficult to resolve.
Who is to blame is more difficult to pin down. Many people could have been hurt if more than one vehicle had collided.
You may not want to put your trust in an insurance company if you’re involved in a multi-vehicle collision. Insurance companies put their own financial interests ahead of those of their customers, so don’t put your trust in a quick resolution to your claim.
