[06-01-2022] Riverside County, CA – Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash in Hemet Results in One Death

The Hemet Police identified the hit-and-run victim that occurred about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday on Florida Avenue, just east of San Jacinto Street.

Jaime A, 66, was identified as the person killed in the crash by the police.

Investigators believe the vehicle that struck Alvarez was a black 2006 Dodge Charger with a red or pink pinstripe on the sides, aftermarket rims, and “significant” front-end and windshield damage, according to McGinnis.

The vehicle has a California license plate: 6-Z-D-G-7-3-4.

Alvarez began walking northeast from a liquor store parking lot, initially crossing eastbound lanes of Florida, according to investigators.

He made it across the eastbound side of the corridor despite oncoming traffic and continued walking into the westbound lanes, where there is no marked crosswalk.

According to police, the vehicle that ran over the victim was traveling westbound on a green traffic signal.

The police Traffic Bureau at 951-765-2400 was urged to contact anyone with information about the Dodge.

An unidentified man was killed following a deadly pedestrian accident involving a hit-and-run driver in Hemet on Wednesday night, June 1, 2022.

The fatal accident transpired at approximately 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Florida Avenue and San Jacinto Street.

The man was struck by a passing vehicle at an intersection in Hemet. The driver that struck the man did not stop to provide aid and drove away from the scene.

The victim was initially walking northeast on Florida Avenues when he was suddenly struck by a westbound vehicle. The victim was not walking in a marked crosswalk at the time of the accident, and the light was green for cars.

Unfortunately, the pedestrian was killed in the mishap, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Information about the accident is limited at the moment.

Local authorities are actively pursuing the whereabouts of the hit-and-run driver. They suspect that the vehicle used by the hit-and-run driver is a Dodge. Witnesses that can provide additional information on the mishap are urged to call the police department at 951-765-2400.
