[06-10-2023] Providence City Councilwoman Injured After Being Struck by Van at Point Lobos State Natural ReserveProvidence City Councilwoman Helen A. sustained major injuries after being hit by a van in Monterey on Saturday morning, June 10, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at the entrance of the Point Lobos State Natural Reserve along the Pacific Coast at around 9:10 a.m.

Anthony was walking at a crosswalk near the state park entrance when she was struck by a van driven by an 82-year-old man in a 2013 Polaris.

Anthony sustained major injuries but is currently in stable condition and is receiving excellent care, said Council Spokesman Parker G.

It is uncertain whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in this incident. The driver of the van has not yet been charged.
