[06-17-2023] Madera County, CA – Pedestrian Killed Following Hit-and-Run Collision on Road 26, Suspect at Large

A pedestrian was struck and killed in a hit-and-run collision in the Madera area on Saturday morning, June 17, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on the east shoulder of Road 26 north of Mateo Way at around 12:41 a.m.

The unidentified victim was walking on the east shoulder of Road 26 when a vehicle veered into the path and struck them. The driver fled the area, going in a northern direction, without rendering aid or notifying the authorities.

Officials found the body of the victim several hours later. Passing motorists were the ones who informed the authorities of the victim’s whereabouts.

The suspect is still at large. Anyone with information about this fatal hit-and-run incident is encouraged to call the authorities.
