Fatal Motorcycle Accident Statistics
More safety features are available to car drivers than to motorcycle riders. They travel at the same speed and on the same roads as cars but lack the same safety equipment.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, motorcycles are to blame for 11% of all accidents on American roads (NHTSA). In 2018, 4,985 motorcycle fatalities and 82,000 injuries occurred.
This statistic is not shocking, given that drivers of cars with doors have a 16 times lower risk of injury or death than drivers of motorcycles.
Unfortunately, it’s not exactly safe to ride a motorcycle in California. California has the most motorcycles with registrations of any state. In California, there are more than 800,000 motorcycles that are registered. 16,505 motorcycle accidents occurred on California roads in 2017. A total of 15,527 people were hurt, and 541 lost their lives.
Particularly at night, some drivers might not be able to see motorcycles. It’s a good idea to dress in reflective material to draw other drivers’ attention to you while driving. Although some people might not consider this fashionable, maintaining your safety while driving is more important.
