[06-30-2023] San Diego County, CA – 65-Year-Old Pedestrian Critically Injured After Being Struck by Vehicle at Chula Vista Bus Bench

A 65-year-old pedestrian was severely injured after being struck by a car while sitting on a bus bench in Chula Vista on Friday evening, June 30, 2023.

The Chula Vista Police Department received a report of the incident at approximately 9:00 p.m., taking place in the 300 block of E Street.

Upon arriving at the scene, the officers discovered that a large pickup truck had collided with the bus bench where the male pedestrian was seated.

Emergency responders and police officers attempted life-saving measures on the pedestrian before taking him to a nearby hospital. The man remains hospitalized and is currently in critical condition.

The sequence of events leading to the crash and the cause of the collision are still under investigation by the CVPD Traffic Bureau. The police have not disclosed whether driving under the influence was a factor in the incident.

Authorities have chosen not to release the names of the individuals involved while the investigation is ongoing.
