[07-03-2025] Orange County, CA – Construction Worker Rescued After Being Trapped in Trench in Irvine

A construction worker was rescued after being trapped in a 6-foot trench for nearly three hours in Irvine on Thursday afternoon, July 3, 2025.

The incident was reported at around 1:41 p.m. in the 6500 block of Roosevelt, near Sand Canyon Road.

According to the Orange County Fire Authority, the worker had both of his legs buried but was in stable condition throughout the ordeal as crews maintained constant communication with him.

Firefighters worked on shoring the trench and setting up a rescue system. The worker was successfully pulled out on a stretcher just before 4 p.m.

No further details about the worker’s identity or condition were immediately available.
