A 53-year-old woman, Lorraine N., was struck and killed after a hit-and-run accident in Whittier on Monday evening.
The accident happened at approximately 10:15 p.m. in an unincorporated area on Leffingwell Road and Corley Drive in South Whittier.
According to the local authorities, Naranjo and her son were crossing the street to a nearby liquor store to buy food when she was hit by a car with no headlights.
Unfortunately, Naranjo was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the firefighters, another person was taken by an ambulance to a nearby trauma center. The identity of the person was unknown at the time of the report.
After the collision, the driver left the scene, leaving Naranjo in the middle of the street.
The CHP discovered the suspect’s vehicle on Laurel Avenue close to Meyer Road, a white Mercedes-Benz with significant front-end damage, including a broken windshield.
The suspect, who had also left this area before locating the car, was still at large, and police were still looking for him.
