[07-20-2023] Mother & Her 8-Year-Old Daughter Severely Injured After Two-Vehicle Hit-And-Run Crash on Main StreetA pedestrian mother and her 8-year-old daughter were severely injured after being struck in a two-vehicle hit-and-run collision in South Los Angeles on Thursday morning, July 20, 2023.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident occurred in a crosswalk at the Vernon Avenue and Main Street intersection at around 9:00 a.m.

Demetriz F., and her daughter, Kayleen F., were crossing the street after buying groceries when they were struck in a chain-reaction collision. After a car stopped for them to cross, another car behind it struck the first car, resulting in a pedestrian accident.

The mother had seven broken ribs and a broken pelvis, while her daughter had cuts all over her face and a broken collar bone. Demetria F., the victim’s sister, is unsure if her sister can walk normally again.

When the paramedics loaded the two victims into the ambulance, the two drivers fled the scene. One of the cars involved was a new gray SUV.
