One person was killed in a two-vehicle collision on Pacoima in Los Angeles on Sunday morning, July 23, 2023.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident was reported around 3:00 a.m. on the eastbound lanes of the 118 Freeway, east of the Laurel Canyon off-ramp.
Authorities stated that the collision involved a pickup truck and a sports car. Inside the wrecked sports car, a male individual, whose age remains unidentified, was found trapped.
The Los Angeles Fire Department employed hydraulic tools to extricate the victim from the severely damaged vehicle. Despite their efforts, the victim’s injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The CHP closed the eastbound 118 Freeway at the 5 Freeway interchange, redirecting all traffic onto the 5 Freeway.
The duration of the investigation and its impact on traffic flow have not been disclosed at this time.
