[08-04-2023] Fresno County, CA – 4 People Injured Following Multi-Vehicle Collision Involving Reckless Driver on Blackstone Avenue

Four people were injured after a multi-vehicle collision involving a reckless driver in Fresno on Friday evening, August 4, 2023.

According to the Fresno Police Department, the incident occurred in the area of Blackstone Avenue and Bullard Avenue at around 9:30 p.m.

Patrolling officers saw a silver Infiniti doing donuts in a Target parking lot. Police officers tried to stop the Infiniti driver, a man in his 20s, but he fled. The driver fled north on Blackstone and turned right into Bullard, continuing east. When officers caught up to him, a traffic accident occurred at an intersection.

The reckless driver had two occupants in his vehicle. Both were injured and were treated at the scene. The drivers of white and red vehicles that got involved were also injured and treated at the scene.

One of the drivers was a woman pinned in her vehicle. The Fresno Fire Department successfully extricated her, and she was brought to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Infiniti driver was arrested on suspicion of reckless driving in relation to street racing, which has become a problem in Fresno lately, said Leslie W., an FPD personnel.

No information was released regarding the identities of the people involved, pending an investigation.
