According to the California Highway Department, the incident occured at about 9:30 p.m. near Fairfax Road and Edison Highway in southeast Bakersfield.

Officers said the pedestrian was reportedly struck by a car. The events leading up to it are unknown at this point, pending an investigation.

The victim was sent to Kern Medical with unspecified injuries and in unknown condition.

No information was released regarding the vehicle’s description and its driver.
