According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal collision happened around 1:49 a.m. along the Escondido Freeway, south of the 91 Freeway.

The victim was identified as Sotelo G., a 38-year-old resident of Homeland, who was declared dead at the scene.

The authorities are currently in search of the suspect’s vehicle, a blue vehicle with right-side damage.
