[08-08-2023] Riverside County, CA – Five Individuals Injured, Three Severely, After Three-Vehicle Wreck in Corona

Five people were injured, including three who sustained severe injuries after a three-vehicle collision in Corona on Tuesday morning, August 8, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 11:50 a.m. on the westbound 91 freeway near Serfas Club Drive.

The Corona Fire Department arrived and found three people trapped inside the heavily damaged vehicle. Firefighters utilized specialized equipment to free the occupants.

Around 12:15 p.m., the three individuals trapped in the wreckage were rescued. Reports from the scene indicated that all of them sustained serious injuries. The occupants of the other two vehicles suffered moderate injuries, as confirmed by officials.

The cause of the accident has not been determined at this time. In response, CHP officers closed both fast-track and three mainline lanes, leaving only two westbound lanes open for traffic flow.

CHP officers were actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
