[08-09-2022] Riverside County, CA – Engine Failure Results in Fiery Crash on 91 Freeway

According to the California Highway Patrol, a small plane crashed and caught fire on the 91 Freeway in Riverside County Tuesday afternoon, August 9, 2022.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash-landing occurred at 12:31 p.m. in Lincoln Avenue and the eastbound lanes of the freeway.

A trail of burning fuel was left behind as the single-engine Piper Cherokee slid toward the sound barrier after falling from the sky and colliding with the freeway.

According to CHP Capt, the pilot may have experienced an engine failure during their final descent to Corona Municipal Airport. Levi Miller.

A truck carrying three people was also struck by the plane.

Investigations into the crash are still ongoing.
