[08-10-2022] Kern County, CA-Bicyclist Killed after being Struck by Vehicle in OakstreetAccording to the Bakersfield Police Department, a bicyclist died of injuries after being hit by a vehicle near Beach Park early Wednesday morning, August 10, 2022.

Officers from the Bakersfield Police Department were dispatched to Oak Street near 21st Street shortly after midnight Wednesday for a report of a bicyclist being hit by a vehicle.

The police officers discovered a man on the side of the road with serious injuries. The bicyclist was transported to a hospital for treatment but later pronounced dead.

According to police, the driver who hit the bicyclist stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. According to police, the driver displayed no signs of intoxication.

The bicyclist’s identity will be identified later by Kern County Coroner’s Office.
