According to the California Highway Patrol, a box truck driver died in flames and consumed in the inferno of a fiery crash on Interstate 10 late Friday afternoon, August 12, 2022.
According to the authorities, the crash occurred at approximately 4:50 p.m. on Interstate 10 near Chiriaco Summit.
The Freightliner box truck driver rear-ended a stopped tractor-trailer as he was traveling west in the freeway’s #2 lane west of Chiriaco Summit at a “high rate of speed.”
The box truck caught fire as a result of the collision impact. When CHP officers arrived on the scene, they tried to rescue the box truck driver from the flames but were unsuccessful.
According to the CHP, the Freightliner “was consumed by the fire,” and the driver was declared dead at the scene.
According to the CHP, the hit tractor-trailer was propelled forward and rear-ended another large truck, causing only minor damage. No other injuries have yet been reported.
The CHP is still looking into the collision. According to the agency, drugs and/or alcohol don’t seem to contribute to crashes.
