Reckless Driving Accident Statistics

Aggressive or careless drivers put other people’s lives in danger for no reason. It is not okay for reckless driving to hurt people who have done nothing wrong. Drivers who act this way should have to pay for the damage they cause and the deaths they cause.

Aggressive driving is a big reason there are so many car accidents, fights on the road, and deaths on U.S. highways every year. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, aggressive driving is when a driver makes many moving traffic violations that put other people or property in danger (NHTSA).

Even though it can be hard to measure aggressive driving, a 2009 study by the American Automobile Association found that it was a factor in 56% of fatal crashes from 2003 to 2007. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Fatal Accident Reporting System, the most common cause is going too fast.

In California, driving recklessly is a very bad driving crime or a serious traffic infraction. People often use the words improper, careless, and reckless to mean the same thing. No matter what you call it, it is much more likely that someone will die in a car accident.

In California, 3,623 people died in car accidents in 2016, more than 1,000 more than in 2010. This is a 12% rise since 2010, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). (2,720). While 1,056 people died because they were driving too fast, 1,059 died driving drunk.

Los Angeles County Car Accident Lawyers

Most of the time, legal negligence is used to explain auto accidents. On the other hand, your California reckless driving accident lawyer will try to prove that the other driver was at fault by showing that they did something on purpose or that they were “negligent per se.” When people do things on purpose, like driving drunk or high, they increase their chances of certain things happening.

A pedestrian, passenger, or another road user who gets hurt may be able to prove that the person who hurt them was negligent per se since reckless driving is against the law in California, and negligence per se means breaking the law. In either case, a strong claim needs the knowledge and experience of a determined California reckless driving accident lawyer.
