[09-17-2022] One Person Died and Five Others Suffered Injuries Following a Suspected DUI Crash near KermanOne person died while five, including the driver with suspected DUI, suffered moderate to severe injuries after a two-vehicle collision near Kerman on Saturday night, September 17, 2022.

The collision occurred around 9:18 p.m. at Highway 180 and Shasta Avenue. The road was blocked until 2 a.m. as the investigators searched the area for clues.

The Acura’s driver, a 20-year-old Mendota woman, was fatally injured. Four people, two of whom were 21 years old and the other two were 20 and 14, were in the Acura with her. They’re all from Mendota.

Three of the Acura’s passengers suffered severe injuries, Unfortunately, the driver died at the scene. Moderate injuries were reported for the fourth.

The Acura and Honda collided when the Honda veered into the oncoming lane and the Acura’s path.

According to the CHP, Antonio O., 27, of Fresno, was detained at the hospital on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and drug impairment.

Orosco was traveling east of Shasta on 180 while the Acura was traveling west.
