A man was struck by a 48-year-old man with his F150 truck on purpose after getting into an argument in Helendale on Saturday, September 17, 2022.
It occurred around 11:14 a.m. in Helendale, close to Buckthorn Trail and Rodeo Road.
According to sheriff’s officials, the suspect, Ryan B., went to the home of his ex-girlfriend, where an argument took place. He walked out of her house and turned north on Rodeo Road.
According to a news release, Bomgaars observed the current boyfriend of his ex-girlfriend traveling in his direction.
Bomgaars attempted to hit the victim’s car head-on by swerving into oncoming traffic. The victim veered off the road and hurriedly got out of the car. Bomgaars rear-ended his Ford F150 pickup truck, hitting the victim and their vehicle.
Before deputies arrived, Bomgaars fled the scene, leaving the injured victim lying in the road. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, but there was no update on his health.
According to authorities, Bomgaars was apprehended shortly after being found at a friend’s home in Helendale.
Bomgaars is currently being held at the High Desert Detention Center in lieu of a $1,000,000.00 bail.
The crash remains under investigation.
