Pedestrian Accident Statistics

Pedestrian accidents are a growing concern in the United States. In 2017, over 6,000 pedestrians were killed in traffic collisions, and the number of fatalities has risen steadily for the past decade.

Pedestrian accidents are often caused by driver negligence, including distracted driving, speeding, and failure to yield the right of way. However, pedestrians can also be at fault if they fail to follow traffic safety rules or cross the street carelessly.

Drivers and pedestrians need to be aware of the risks and take steps to reduce their chances of being involved in a collision. Drivers should always be alert and obey the speed limit, and pedestrians should use crosswalks and look both ways before crossing the street.
